The “Meet an SME” Event creates:
- An opportunity for Government to efficiently meet and become aware of local and Australian SMEs and the innovative products and services they offer to solve problems the Government has.
- An opportunity for SMEs, to efficiently meet prospective Government customers. A maximum of 40 SME companies will be included.
The Challenge of Awareness
It can be a daunting task for Government agencies to discover and be aware of SMEs and the solutions and values they can bring to Government. While the 2013 NSW Government Small Medium Enterprises Policy Framework sets out guidelines for greater participation, it does not overcome the Government challenge to discover what SME innovative solutions are available.
Equally, it is very difficult for a smaller, unknown company to get the attention of the buyer or the person responsible for solving a problem inside a Government agency.
SME awareness needs to be considered from two perspectives:
- The resources available to agencies to become aware of SMEs.
- The ability for SMEs to pro-actively create awareness to agencies.
