National iAwards 2017
Overview
For 24 years, AIIA’s iAwards, Australia’s largest innovation awards program, has been recognising and celebrating achievements of Australian students, businesses and individuals in conceptualising and developing innovations in technology.
The iAwards recognises and rewards those leading innovators who are making a difference by being part of the 2017 National iAwards program.
Earlier this year, hundreds of innovations were submitted by students, Government agencies, corporates, startups and educational institutions. Their focus is across society and the economy, with awards in Community Services, Consumer, Industrial and Primary Industries, Business Services, Public Sector and Government and Student sectors.
On Wednesday 30 August, we invite you to join us at the iAwards Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony to recognise, celebrate and ‘shine a light’ on the incredible innovations that are being developed across Australia.
Plus, cheer on our iAwardian’s as they strive to be Pitch Perfect – watch our finalists battle it out at the 2017 PitchFest – or spend some time getting up close and personal with our finalists at this year’s Innovation Showcase. Entry to the PitchFest day event is included in your Gala dinner ticket price.
2017 iAwards event Master of Ceremonies, will keep the night fun and entertaining, with lots of great surprises in store for everyone who attends. It’ll be a fantastic night!

MC
Master of Ceremonies – Cal Wilson
Cal is one of the most well rounded media talents in the country and consequently is in high demand.
Her comedy career started back in New Zealand in 1990, where she was a founding member of the Court Jesters improvisation group, and was part of the New Zealand team that won the World Theatre-sports title in Los Angeles in 1994.
In 1997, she received the inaugural Billy T Award, New Zealand’s most prestigious comedy award recognising comedians with outstanding potential, and was judged Best Comedian 2000, by Metro Magazine.
However, like all great New Zealand talent, Australia has claimed her as its own and Cal
has made Melbourne her home for the past eight years.
Her live performances demonstrate her enormous talent as a stand-up comedian.
In 2001, Cal won the Best Newcomer Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and has performed right around the country as part of the MICF Roadshow.
A career highlight for her was appearing on QI Live in 2011, the live stage tour with Stephen Fry and Alan Davies – which then resulted in her being invited to the UK to be a guest on two episodes of the BBC television series.
Not only is she a very funny lady – she is also very handy with a glue gun!
Entertainment
Suade, Australia’s # 1 male acapella group, will be entertaining you with vocal music as you’ve never seen it before!
With four amazing voices, world-first live looping and effects technology, crazy stage antics and a wicked sense of humour, Suade will inject the ‘fun factor’ into the evening.
