Speakers
Vivien was appointed Trade and Investment Commissioner, and Counsellor (Commercial) at the Australian Embassy in Tokyo in May 2021. Vivien’s current remit spans across sectors such as advanced technology, research and development, the start-up economy, future cities, defence, space, and financial services.
Vivien joined Austrade in 2003 and has held a number of roles within the organisation. This includes offshore assignments in Singapore, Malaysia and South Korea. Before taking up her appointment in Tokyo, Vivien was the Head of the Defence, Advanced Manufacturing and Space sectors team, and in 2017 was the Assistant General Manager of the Trade division where she had strategic oversight of four Industry sectors – Advanced Manufacturing, Infrastructure, Resources and Energy, and Services & Technology.
Shoe-g Ueyama has grown the Japanese market for Canva since 2019.
He started from managing and terminating former partnerships. Then he built a local team from scratch. Under his leadership, the monthly Active Users grown more than 10 time from 2019 to 2022. Revenue has been growing.
Before Canva, Shoe-g San worked at Dropbox Japan. He helped grow self-serve revenue for Japan and also other Asian countries.
Joshua is a recognised innovation ecosystem leader in both Japan and Australia, as the co-founder and CEO of Innovation Dojo Japan.
His experience includes Japan Country Manager for European open innovation firm Rainmaking, lead Director for the largest start-up hub in the Southern Hemisphere, Sydney Start-up Hub, and he was the first hire and leader of the University of New South Wales start-up programs, which grew to become the leading university for entrepreneurs in Australia.
Joshua also has direct experience bringing an edtech tech start-up into Japan as Managing Director of StudyLink K.K.
A seasoned strategy consulting professional with rich experience of leading and executing engagements for Fortune 500 businesses, large MNCs and government bodies across Asia Pacific.
Rachit has advised clients on market entry, growth and new business creation / innovation topics in a diverse range of industries.
Rachit heads Japan’s advisory & investment firm – Industrial Growth Platform, Inc.’s (IGPI) Australia business.
Before joining IGPI, Rachit was the Country Manager at YCP Solidiance and thereafter a co-founder of Conquerem – an online B2B e-bidding platform for boutique consulting firms.
