Dino Rossi

Mr. Dino Rossi is the Research Development Manager for the Australian Research Centre for Interactive
and Virtual Environments (IVE) at the University of South Australia. He actively seeks to foster mutually valued relationships between industry and research institutions along with promoting the development of digital skills in Australia’s emerging workforce.

 

An accomplished, results driven leader having ful lled responsibilities across Executive, Managerial and Technology roles he a current a member of the South Australia Training and Skill Commission and occupies the Chair role for South Australian Creative Industries, Business, ICT and Cybersecurity Industry Skills Council. He also chairs the University of South Australian IT and Mathematical Sciences Industry Advisory Board, Deputy Chairs for the Australian Information Industry Association SA Digital Skills working group and is a member of the Department for Education STEM Industry Advisory Group. He recently ful lled roles as Industry Practitioner in Resident and Adjunct Research Associate with the University of South Australia and continues to Lecture in the universities Information Technology programs.

 

Dino holds Master of Business Administration
and a Masters by Research in Innovation and Entrepreneurship along with tertiary quali cations in Information Technology.

Professor Mark Billinghurst

Deputy Director of IVE

University of South Australia

 

Professor Mark Billinghurst is a Professor of Human Computer Interaction at the University of South Australia and is also a Professor at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. He is the Director of the Empathic Computing Laboratory (ECL) in both Australia and New Zealand.

 

The ECL is a multi-disciplinary research group exploring how to develop systems that can enable people to share what they are seeing, hearing and feeling with others. Professor Billinghurst is also a Deputy Director for the Australian Research Centre for Interactive and Virtual Environments (IVE) at the University of South Australia as well as the Director of the Australasian Researchers in Interactive Virtual Environments (ARIVE) research network.

 

The ARIVE network is made up of eight academic institutions in Australia and New Zealand who are conducting research in Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR). Made up of more than 250 researchers it is the largest research network of its type and provides a single point of contact for companies looking to engage in AR/VR/MR research and commercialisation.

 

Professor Billinghurst is a leader in his  eld having published more than 550 papers on AR, remote collaboration and wearable computing with a research focus on how virtual and real worlds can be merged.

Professor Bruce Thomas

Director of IVE

University of South Australia

 

Professor Bruce Thomas is the Director of the Australian Research Centre for Interactive and Virtual Environments (IVE) at the University of South Australia. He works to connect IVE’s world-class research with industry and end-users across IVE’s areas of focus. Professor Thomas founded the Wearable Computer Lab in 1998 and which is now an integral part of the Centre

 

He is currently a CSIRO Adjunct Science Fellow and a Senior Member of both the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electronical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).

 

His current research interests include augmented reality, virtual reality, visualization, immersive analytics, wearable computers, user interfaces, computer supported cooperative work (CSCW), tabletop display interfaces, and the use of cognitive psychology in virtual environments research.

 

Professor Thomas has over 200 publications and over 6,500 Google citations, he is both nationally and internationally recognized for his contributions to the scienti c community and industry in the areas of augmented reality, virtual reality, visualization, wearable computers, tabletop interactions, and user interaction.
