As part of the Strategy for Science and Technology Development for 2011-2020, the Vietnamese Government aims to increase the value of hi-tech products and applications, and the number of capable engineers, research organisations, hi-tech incubators and enterprise accelerators.
Vietnam has moved up 12 places to rank 47th in the Global Innovation Index 2017. The market has a young, tech-savvy population with a strong interest in ICT careers. It is estimated that Vietnam will need 400,000 ICT workers between 2016-2020.
Australia is recognised globally for its high quality education and research capability. Australia’s National Innovation and Science Agenda sets a focus on innovation, science and research as key long-term drivers of economic prosperity and growth.
Austrade plans to partner with the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) to deliver the Vietnam-Australia ICT Education Showcase 2018, to promote Australia’s sector expertise and capabilities, and to facilitate institutional linkages, research collaboration and commercial partnerships.
The objectives are to:
- raise the profile of Australia as a country of innovation and high quality technology, with world-leading education, research and entrepreneurial capabilities
- provide a direct channel for Australian institutions, research and business organisations to build partnerships with Vietnamese institutions and industry, including education exchange and collaboration
- strengthen bilateral relations, build capacity and ultimately enhance research and commercial collaboration.
