As a young person wanting to build a career in corporate Australia, finding opportunities in the commercial world of private enterprise can be really challenging.

As parents of these young aspiring professionals, we look for every angle, every contact and every piece of advice to help them launch their careers.

This session features two of the most experienced executives working in corporate Australia. They will provide insights, strategies and advice to assist the young professional
• Make the most of opportunities,
• Identify ways to create opportunities,
• How to build lasting networks,
• The do’s and don’ts of applying for roles and,
• Interview techniques.

As the event is free, AIIA members who are parents of aspiring professionals are encouraged to register their children to join the event and hear from these experts directly, hosted & moderated by another industry veteran and AIIA CEO Ron Gauci.

Speakers

Rob Hillard

Robert Hillard is the current Chair of the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) and represents AIIA member Deloitte.

Robert has held many eminent roles including leading Deloitte Consulting across Asia Pacific, serving on Deloitte’s global board (Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited) and being appointed to the Digital Expert Advisory Committee advising Prime Minister & Cabinet in Australia. Robert has been involved in many public forums and presentations related to the information economy. He has written extensively, including authoring Information-Driven Business (Wiley 2010), and co-authoring Information Development using MIKE2.0 (Motion 2013).

Robert’s contributions to the Australian technology industry were recognised in late 2014 with his admission as a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society.

John Ieraci

As Chief Customer Officer for Telstra Enterprise, John Ieraci leads the Customer Management and sales division for Telstra’s Enterprise and Government portfolio. In addition, John has accountability for the Telstra Broadcast Services and Telstra Mining Services businesses.

John has developed deep domestic and international expertise during more than 20 years experience in the telecommunications industry. He commenced his career as a network engineer, then moving into cross company product portfolio leadership positions before transitioning to business development and sales, both in technology and service provider sectors of the market.

John holds a Bachelor of Engineering specialising in Telecommunications systems and joined Telstra in 2007. Prior roles include working at Ericsson and Marconi communications.

John has been a member of the Telstra Executive Team since 2007, and also an active AIIA Victorian Council member since 2015. He is passionate about the role IT&T can play in shaping all Australian Industries.
