Join AIIA and the Department of Home Affairs to get an insight into the Government’s recently released Migration Strategy which will change the face of Australia’s migration system, improving the living standards of Australians, while supporting productivity growth through meeting skills needs. Okke will explain the reforms in the context of the tech sector and visa programs available that can be used to bring in skilled workers to combat widespread worker shortages.
Rosalie will discuss the 2023–2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy and associated Action Plan, which sets out a range of initiatives aimed at strengthening cyber defences and resilience across the Australian economy, as well as the Cyber Security Legislative Reforms Consultation Paper which outlines a number of legislative reforms included in the Action Plan, and seeks input on proposed cyber security and critical infrastructure security legislation.

Okke Velzeboer is Assistant Director of the SA Business, Industry and Regional Outreach team for the Department of Home Affairs. Having worked in stakeholder engagement for the Department for over ten years, he has built strong relationships bridging industries, government, and Australia’s regions, with a strong focus on the Defence, Clean Energy and Digitech sectors, to promote Australia’s skilled migration program.

Rosalie Martin is the Director of the Cyber Security Outreach program, within the National Office of Cyber Security. Rosalie’s career in the department spans over 20 years, working as a forensic document examiner and more recently in cyber security. Her current role is to ensure the outreach program delivers initiatives through strong and effective industry-government partnerships, providing information on a range of cyber security issues.
