The AIIA celebrates women in ICT and is proud to present Katrina Troughton – Managing Director of IBM as our keynote speaker. The event will also feature a panel discussion with other female leaders that includes Emily Curlewis, Chief Operations Officer COO, Veritec, and Janice Law, Senior Executive Service (SES) Band 2 officer.

This will be a great opportunity to hear from significant members of our ICT community who will share their journeys and thoughts which will no doubt be inspirational to everyone but in particular the next generation of female leaders.

This year’s theme is #choosetochallenge. This event is expected to be a sell out as places are limited to 180. It is recommended that you purchase tickets early.

Speaker

Katrina Troughton

Managing Director of IBM Australia and New Zealand

Katrina was appointed to the role in July 2019 following a 28-year career at the company in local, regional and global roles.

Starting her career at IBM in New Zealand, Katrina has since held leadership positions in A/NZ, Asia Pacific and the USA for IBM’s analytics, cloud and software businesses including more than four years as General Manager for IBM New Zealand.

Most recently, Katrina was Vice President for Enterprise and Commercial Sales for Asia Pacific where she revitalised the region’s skills agenda and led a team to deliver strong growth in IBM’s cloud, software and infrastructure business.

She also previously held the global role as Vice President for IBM’s Smarter Workforce Solutions where she worked to reform end-to-end offerings and the go-to-market strategy driving the transformation to SaaS and services solutions.

Katrina has served on a number of external boards including New Zealand Advisory Board for Global Women, and Uniservices (the commercialisation arm of Auckland University). Katrina also chaired the NZ Government Digital Strategy Advisory Board(2006 –2008).

Katrina is the first woman appointed as Managing Director of IBM A/NZ.

Emily Curlewis

Chief Operating Officer (COO), Veritec

Emily has over 15 years’ experience in strategic communications, marketing, strategy, and operations roles within the technology industry. She is currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Veritec, which is part of the FTS Group, one of the largest privately owned IT services companies in Australia. As COO Emily has played a key role in setting the strategicdirection of the busines, building the brand nationally, and driving several Diversity and Inclusion initiatives internally.

Prior to joining Veritec, Emily worked at PayPal Australia for seven years in senior strategy, brand, and communications roles. At PayPal, Emily was responsible for driving customer engagement with their 7M+ consumers and building the brand in Australia.

Earlier on in her career Emily worked with several large brands including eBay, Microsoft, Vodafone, Blackberry, Lexmark, VB, Carlton Draught, and LG. Emily is a passionate advocate for inspiring more women to consider a career in the tech industry and encouraging Australian IT companies to help foster digital skills locally.

Janice Law

Janice Law is a dedicated Senior Executive Service (SES) Band 2 officer with extensive experience in the management of large multi-disciplinary teams, and delivery of major acquisition programmes and projects. From 2007 to 2016, Janice contributed to the Department of Defence’s significant ICT reform journey, through pivotal management roles in key infrastructure transformation projects such as the Terrestrial Communications (Joint Project 2047 Phase 3), and Centralised Processing projects – two of Australian federal Government’s largest ICT outsourcing initiatives to date. More recently, Janice’s key outcomes include the delivery and enhancement of a defensive cyber capability to actively defend Australian Defence Force (ADF) deployed networks, mission systems and data, convergence of Defence’s deployable networks and gateways; and simulation capabilities to enable warfighter preparedness.
