Let’s look at what it has going for it – a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, a community that actively fosters and supports start-ups, a great launch pad with global and local connectedness, fabulous talent, cutting edge innovation facilities, and fresh thinking.

But what it doesn’t have going for it – yet! – is the extra edge that gender diversity can bring. We already know from the 3,000 plus research studies that have been done that companies replete with diversity out-innovate and outperform the competition. And that employees who work for companies like these are 45% more to report that their company improved market share in the last 12 months. And they’re 70% more likely to report that their company captured a new market in that time frame.

These figures are a remarkable testament to the impact of diversity — not just on innovation, but on market growth. Think how much more punch ‘Tech-Melbourne’ would have if it captured more of this impact.

We want to help make this happen, and that’s what the invitation is about. We are bringing you our inaugural Women in Technology Driving for Change event. Through this program we want to connect men and women with a passion for Melbourne’s technology future to:

build an understanding of gender science which supports cultural change
create real initiatives in tech to attract and retain women, through shared case studies
develop strategies to change leadership thinking and behaviour, and most importantly,
establish an understanding of how women in technology can support the growth of the industry.
