Ben will provide an overview of the Australian Signals Directorate and its three missions, identify some unique aspects of working in the organisation and provide an overview of Project REDSPICE. Keynote Speaker: Ben Staughton, Deputy Director-General Capability and Transformation Group, Australian Signals Directorate
Ben Staughton leads ASD’s Capability and Transformation Group and is one of the four ASD Deputies.
He joined the Australian Signals Directorate (then DSD) in 1998 though the graduate program and worked as an analyst before going on to lead a number of ASD’s signals intelligence analysis and production efforts. Prior to his current role he was the Deputy Director-General for Signals Intelligence and Network Operations.
Ben’s national security career includes roles in the private sector, the Department of Home Affairs and what is now the Office of National Intelligence.
He is currently responsible for ASD capability development across its three missions: signals intelligence, cyber security and effects. This includes the design, build and run of ASD’s extensive mission systems, and its enterprise ICT.
Ben is also responsible for the coordination of ASD’s 10 year, $9.9 bn transformation program, REDSPICE, which will see the organisation grow by 1800 personnel and establish a resilient national footprint.
