Dean Grandy

KPMG Australia

Dean is a government digital and business transformation specialist with extensive experience in the Federal Government domain. He delivers management consulting engagements to a wide range of public sector clients both nationally and internationally, with a focus on the design and delivery of government programs of scale, complexity, and national significance.

Based in Canberra, Dean is the Lead Partner for KPMG Australia’s Technology for Infrastructure, Government & Healthcare (IGH) group, and leads the Modernising Government strategic initiative within Management Consulting.

Dean began his career as a non-politically aligned Ministerial advisor. Prior to KPMG, he worked as a Lead Partner in Federal Government for an advisory firm, and a Senior Executive at a global systems integration firm.

Jonas Petersen

Chief Digital Officer

Office of Digital Government, Western Australia

Jonas Petersen is the Chief Digital Officer within WA’s Office of Digital Government, the Department of the Premier and Cabinet. The Office leads, supports and coordinates the digital transformation of the WA public sector and helps agencies change the way they work, and reorient their services and processes around the needs of people and businesses – rather than the structures of government.

Jonas has an extensive background in digital strategy, transformation, and innovation across government, healthcare, the private sector and startups. He started in the role in January 2020 after arriving from Denmark – one of the world’s leading countries in digital service delivery. Now based in Perth, he oversees the Western Australian Government’s Digital Strategy and administration of the AUD $900 million Digital Capability Fund, work on privacy and responsible data sharing, efforts to address the digital divide and the State’s participation in inter-jurisdictional collaboration. Jonas has Master’s Degrees in Public Administration from Denmark and Belgium and an Executive MBA from IMD (International Institute of Management Development) in Switzerland.

Michael Raghib, PhD, serves as a Principal Data Scientist & Manager within the AI & Analytics Practice at IBM Consulting, based in Perth, WA. With over two decades of experience spanning research and consultancy, Dr. Raghib is a recognized technical leader in leveraging mathematics and computational science to solve complex industrial and scientific challenges.

He holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Glasgow followed by postdoctoral research at both Princeton University and the Theoretical Division at Los Alamos National Labs in the U.S., specializing in multiscale modeling for complex systems.

Transitioning into the corporate world, Dr. Raghib advised the exploration R&D group of Ecopetrol as an external consultant in computational science. He later joined IBM Research in Rio de Janeiro, focusing on AI applications for the Oil & Gas industry. In 2016, he moved to IBM Research Australia and has since progressed to his current role as a Principal Data Scientist in IBM.

Dr. Raghib is a published author of a number of scientific articles and holds patents specifically geared towards AI applications in the resources industry. His current work centers on advancing AI and analytics solutions tailored for the energy, resources, and utilities sectors.

Simon Bush

Chief Executive Officer

Simon is an experienced business leader and strategic thinker with a career covering government, ICT, management consulting and media sectors. Simon has advised many of the world’s leading business consulting and technology companies in developing and implementing business strategies including assisting clients win large transformation deals as well as shape government policy and procurements worth billions to the industry.

Simon joined the AIIA as Head of Policy and Advocacy in 2019 before being appointed, via a competitive process, to the role of CEO in 2022. Simon’s early career included being a senior ministerial adviser in the federal government and held a senior management role at Accenture before setting up his own advisory and consulting business in 2003. Prior to joining the AIIA, Simon was also the long-term CEO of the Australian Home Entertainment Distributors Association (AHEDA). Representing the $1.2 billion Australian home entertainment film and TV industry with members including: Disney, Foxtel, Warner Bros, Sony, Universal, Roadshow, Madman, Paramount and Fetch TV.

Simon has an Honours degree in Political Science from the Australian National University and the University of California, San Diego. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Managers and Leaders and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
