Business leaders and executives from industry, government, community and academia gathered for a Gala Dinner in Brisbane on Tuesday 12 July as the 2016 Queensland iAwards winners and merit recipients were announced.

 | SpeakerHon. Annastacia Palaszczuk MPPremier of Queensland and Minister for the Arts Annastacia Palaszczuk was sworn in as Premier of Queensland on 14 February 2015 following the state election on 31 January. Prior to the election, Annastacia had been Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Queensland Parliamentary Labor Party following the March 2012 state election. She has represented the Inala electorate in the Queensland Parliament since September 2006. Annastacia served as Chair of the Parliamentary Ethics Committee and following the 2009 election, she was appointed as the Minister for Disability Services and Multicultural Affairs. She was appointed Minister for Transport in February 2011 and held the position up until the March 2012 election. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland, Master of Arts (Hons) from the University of London, Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University. Annastacia was the recipient of a British Council Chevening Scholarship enabling her to study for a year in London at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies and the London School of Economics. She was born in Brisbane on 25 July 1969 and attended Jamboree Heights State School in Brisbane and St Mary’s Catholic College, Ipswich. Before being elected to the Queensland Parliament she worked as a part-time sales assistant; a tutor with the Aboriginal and Island Students Service at the University of Queensland; tutor at the Australian National University; and as an adviser to federal and state MPs and Ministers. |
 | Keynote SpeakerDr Stefan HajkowiczSenior Principal Scientist, Data61 (CSIRO)
Stefan’s research and consulting work helps companies, governments and communities explore plausible futures and make wise strategic choices. He is increasingly focused on the strategic implications of digital technology. His current and recent research projects have examined future trends and scenarios about jobs & employment, property markets, the tourism industry, the construction industry, the manufacturing sector, water supply companies, agricultural industries and food security. Stefan is a world leading scholar in the field of decision theory and has published seminal works on the use multi-objective decision support. His research has contrasted structured versus intuitive approaches to decision making. His decision models have guided investments worth hundreds of millions of dollars and have been used by Australia’s State and Federal Governments to make critical policy choices. Stefan is widely published in the international scientific literature and his most recent book titled “Global Megatrends” is available through CSIRO Publishing. Stefan has a doctorate in geography from the University of Queensland and postgraduate qualifications in economics from the University of New England. |

Leeanne Enoch MPMinister for Innovation, Science and the Digital Economy and Minister for Small Business (Queensland) Leeanne is a proud Nunukul/Nughi woman from North Stradbroke Island. She has a strong sense of social justice supported by her remarkable ability to listen to the needs of others and turn issues into positive actions. As the first member of her family to graduate from university, Leeanne developed a lifelong commitment to education early in her life. She spent more than a decade as a high school teacher, working in a number of schools in South-East Queensland and in East London where her passion for community development and social justice grew stronger. After leaving teaching, Leeanne held senior roles in local and state government leading the development and implementation of policies to support some of Queensland’s most at risk families. Leeanne worked for the Australian Red Cross for seven years in leadership roles at the state and national level guiding humanitarian policy and programs to improve the lives of Australia’s most vulnerable. She has also worked with the Queensland Council of Unions to bring justice and equity to all Queenslanders. |
