National iAwards 2018
Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC)
Details
For the past 25 years, the Australian Information Industry Association has been driving an innovation nation through the iAwards program. Each year, the iAwards unearths and recognises Australian innovations that are making a difference – whether this is at home, in the office or on a global scale. The iAwards is Australia’s longest running and most broadly scoped innovation recognition program, and has promoted excellence in the Australian digital ecosystem from the likes of Google Maps, Atlassian, Wotif and WiseTech Global.
The 2018 iAwards will be a celebration of this year’s innovators, digital leaders and bright stars of the future – and we’ll also be looking back at how far technology has come over the past 25 years. Make sure you’re with the Australian ICT industry on Thursday 30 August, as we mark a significant moment in the history of the iAwards and Australian innovation. We promise the 2018 iAwards Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony will be an unforgettable night!
Please note: Each ticket for the Gala Dinner includes entrance to attend a 2018 PitchFest session of your choice. However, you must register your PitchFest ticket, as seats are limited.

Guest Speakers
Cal Wilson – Master of Ceremonies
Due to popular demand, Cal Wilson will be again centre stage at the 2018 National iAwards Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, where she will deliver a comedic performance as the official Master of Ceremonies for our 25th iAwards celebration.
Cal is one of the most well rounded media talents in the country and consequently is in high demand. Her comedy career started back in New Zealand in 1990, where she was a founding member of the Court Jesters improvisation group, and was part of the New Zealand team that won the World Theatre-sports title in Los Angeles in 1994. In 1997, she received the inaugural Billy T Award, New Zealand’s most prestigious comedy award recognising comedians with outstanding potential, and was judged Best Comedian 2000 by Metro Magazine.
However, like all great New Zealand talent, Australia has claimed her as its own and Cal has made Melbourne her home for the past eight years. Her live performances demonstrate her enormous talent as a stand-up comedian. In 2001, Cal won the Best Newcomer Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and has performed around the country as part of the MICF Roadshow. One of Cal’s career highlight was appearing on QI Live in 2011, the live stage tour with Stephen Fry and Alan Davies, which resulted in her being invited to the UK to be a guest on two episodes of the BBC television series.
Cal is not only a funny lady, she is also extremely handy with a glue gun and is the inventor of the A-I-I-A dance move, which she unveiled at last year’s National iAwards Gala Dinner.
What last year’s attendees said:
- “Cal Wilson was brilliant. Nailed the MC role!”
- “The best aspect of the iAwards night was Cal Wilson, hands down.”
- “I thought the comedian/MC was excellent and provided energy to the proceedings.”
- “The MC balanced humour with professionalism.”
- “The MC Cal Wilson was outstanding!”
