The new economic frontier for Geelong: E-Health and E-Education in a High Speed Broadband Environment

With the recent news of Ford’s manufacturing withdrawal from Australia, we have been reminded of the changing economic profile of the Geelong region, the increased shift of the region into a services based economy and the imperatives, challenges and opportunities that come with such changes.

Further, given the priority that Geelong has received for NBN rollout commencing in September 2013, new opportunities now exist for the Geelong health sector and education sectors.

Hosted by ICT Geelong and the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) with the support of the Victorian Government’s Department of State Development, Business and Innovation, please join leaders from business, government, research and ICT at this important Geelong industry event.

We will hear from keynote guest speaker, Dr Kate Cornick, General Manager – Market Development Health & Education, NBNCO, who will explore opportunities and expected trends in e-health and e-education in the context of both the NBN implementation as well as a regional economy in transition.

Dr Cornick will help illustrate the practical impacts on the Geelong region’s population of 250,000 and the prospects for the 20% of its workforce directly involved in health delivery and education.
