Digital technologies have become pervasive in our everyday personal & professional lives, and across all industries. This has led to a growing demand for skills across the digital economy – and this demand is increasingly being felt locally here in South Australia. The South Australian Government’s focus on the Digital sector, as a component of the Growth State plan, and the focus on our innovation centres across the state have led to an increasing number of national and global brands investing in South Australia. This presents the state with fantastic opportunities which industry is recognising and pursuing. Inevitably there are challenges – none more so than in the supply of local talent and skills to meet the demands of the growth of our local digital economy.

AIIA recognises that the availability of skilled people is one of the key concerns for our local South Australian members, in realising opportunities ahead of us. It is with this in mind that we have lined up this briefing. Increasing the demand for skills in our state requires an influx of experienced and skilled workers as well as programs to train new or cross-train existing workers. And it requires our businesses to be prepared to sponsor skilled migrants and invest in the growth of local talent.

In this virtual event, we will hear from SA based government contacts in immigration, skills and employment. Okke Velzeboer (Fed Gov Department of Home Affairs) and Michael Hugo (Immigration SA) will discuss the immediate options for skilled migration within the Digital sector. Sharon Clarke (Fed Gov Department of Education, Skills and Employment) will present an overview of the Federal Government funding programs for employment, training and cross-training within the digital sector. You will be provided with resources and contacts for more detailed information, at the close of the session.

Please come along and hear how you can play a part in building the talent pipeline within your business to meet your current requirements and future ambitions.
