The AIIA Queensland Council invites you to attend the End of Year Networking and Christmas Drinks being held on Wednesday 9 December 2015.

Speaker

Doug van Gelder, Esri Australia

‘Location location location’ may once have been the domain of real estate agents, but with around 2.3 trillion gigabytes of data being produced daily and significant location data now being released publicly by Australian governments, can you risk your business’ success by not making it your focus too?

Location data is fuelling the growth of disruptors like Uber and Tomnod, but even for existing businesses it provides valuable context for decisions, plans and business outcomes and can provide insights into people, places and services that were not previously apparent.

In light of the growing importance of location data, the AIIA will soon launch a paper ‘Realising the value: Understanding open and value-added spatial data’. AIIA Qld Council member Doug van Gelder from Esri Australia will introduce the paper which will be available on the night.

With location data becoming so topical, we need to ask the hard questions: Is the data reliable enough? What are the challenges and opportunities for business?

Join Doug as he reflects on these key issues and what location data means for you.

Members – The AIIA QLD AGM will be held just prior to our networking drinks, so why not come along half an hour earlier to join us for the AGM. To register your attendance for the AGM, please email m.furlonger@aiia.com.au.
