Join us in celebrating finalists in the Queensland iAwards Ceremony, a great showcase for Queensland innovations with winners and merit recipients from the Queensland iAwards across seven categories progressing to the National iAwards in August.

Hear from Chris McLaren, Queensland Government Chief Customer and Digital Officer at Department of Transport and Main Roads who will provide an update on the innovation ecosystem in Qld, its importance for state GDP growth, and government policies to support this.

Department of Transport and Main Roads

Chris is the Queensland Government Chief Customer and Digital Officer and is focused on driving Queensland’s Digital Economy, delivering better citizen-centric services and optimising Queensland Government’s investment and use of technology.

Chris is a globally experienced senior executive with a successful 25-year track record leading, growing, transforming, and advising technology, telecom, utility, energy, services and software organisations including multi-nationals and start-ups. Chris specialises in digital enablement and transformation, customer experience, operations improvement, and technology innovation. Chris has an Honours degree in Electrical Engineering from UTS and has completed studies in Governance at AICD and Digital Strategy & Transformation at MIT.

Steve Minnikin is the Member for Chatsworth. 

He is Shadow Minister for Customer Service and Shadow Minister for Transport and Main Roads.

Elected in 2012, Steve Minnikin represents the Chatsworth electorate and has lived most of his life in the area. Having grown up in Carina, Steve and his wife have raised their family in Belmont.

Throughout his time as a Member of Parliament, he served as the Assistant Minister for Public Transport from 2012-2015 and was the Shadow Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multicultural Affairs in 2017.

Prior to politics, Steve has been involved in the Retail property industry having worked in a variety of managerial roles and has travelled extensively throughout Queensland with various property development projects. Steve completed a Bachelor of Business in Property Valuation at the University of Qld and completed a post Graduate Certificate and Diploma as well as a Master of Property Economics at QUT. He is a member of the Australian Property Institute and the Australian Institute of Managers and Leaders.

Steve brings hard work, vision and a common sense ‘hands on’ local approach to Chatsworth. He is privileged to represent this seat in State Parliament and is determined to work as a team player to improve the lives of Chatsworth residents.
