Siobhan Greene moved to New York in 2017 to take up the position of Child Life Patient Media Coordinator at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone. While setting up and managing the Skyline Studio closed circuit television station has been her primary task,  Siobhan has also coordinated the Department of Therapeutic Recreation, Child Life and Creative Arts Therapies iPad and gaming programs and started New York’s first chapter of the Christmas Wish Project.  Previously, Siobhan was a Senior Certified Child Life Specialist at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne.   Siobhan’s background is in primary school education and she holds a Double Degree in Teaching/Arts and a Graduate Diploma of Mental Health Sciences.  In addition to 10 years of clinical work, Siobhan designed and implemented the first clinical iPad program at The Royal Children’s Hospital in 2012, and then went on to develop and implement a number of e-preparation tools, including the ‘Okee in Medical Imaging’ app. This app won 7 awards across health, IT, education and design fields.  She also co-created, produced and hosted Be-Positive, The Royal Children’s Hospital’s in-house television program. In March 2015, Siobhan received the Association of Child Life Therapists Australia’s biennial award for ‘Contribution to the Profession’.

Angus Sprott – Huon Aquaculture

Angus Sprott is the IT Manager for Huon Aquaculture. Angus is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of Huon Aquaculture’s IT Services including the delivery and maintenance of the Autonomous Offshore Aquaculture Feeding System.

Solution:

Huon Aquaculture have developed and deployed an innovative fish feeding system that uses a combination of industrial automation and artificial intelligence to autonomously control feed rates in offshore fish farms by identifying and tracking feed pellets within the water column using computer vision and machine learning.

Our feed system is unique – no other salmon farmer in the world uses the same innovative technology.  Every day, we remotely feed 8.5 million fish in 120+ pens from a single control room situated in Hobart.  Just four operators are required to simultaneously feed these fish.

Supported by a distributed architecture with multiple layers of redundancy, the system allows Huon Aquaculture to never miss a feed.

By developing a capability to automate and control feed operations for remote offshore fish farms, Huon envisioned that it could sustainability grow and improve the performance of its aquaculture operations. At the same time automation and remote management of operations provided an opportunity to improve safety for feeding personnel who would be operating in an increasingly hostile and hazardous environment.

Huon’s AI Based Autonomous Offshore Aquaculture Feeding System has been transformative and strategically significant for Huon’s operations. Huon was the first aquaculture company in Australia to centralise offshore feeding operations and we believe the first company in the world to apply an AI to fish feeding.

The system has delivered value in the form of improved levels of sustainability and production performance, reduced operational costs and increased safety.
