Department of Housing and Public Works

John McIntosh commenced his ICT career with CITEC in April 2000 and worked in a number of service operations and service management roles before taking up the position of Director, Public Safety Network, within the Queensland Police Service in February 2008.

It was during this appointment that John successfully established the Public Safety Network Management Centre (PSNMC) and led the PSNMC to ISO20000 certification in 2011. The PSNMC was the first Queensland based ICT service provider to achieve certification in the international standard for ICT Service Management.

In August 2013, John was appointed to lead the team responsible for managing the Government Wireless Network (GWN) Contract and overseeing the performance of the GWN contractor for the provision of critical managed radio network services for Queensland’s public safety agencies.

In 2015, John was asked to lead the ICT Strategic Souring team in the former Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation, and to establish the Whole of Government ICT Category Management function. ICT Strategic Sourcing is responsible for the management of 30 WoG SOA’s and panel arrangements, and is tasked with the management of a number of large strategic ICT contracts such as the GWN, SAP, Microsoft, and 1WS ICT Services.
