AIIA met with the Department of Home Affairs to Brief Minister Alan Tudge on the Global Talent Scheme Pilot Design on Monday June 4
The AIIA met with Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs – Alan Tudge in Melbourne on June 4 to discuss the Global Talent Scheme Pilot launch on July 1. This meeting brought together representatives from across industry as part of the Industry Advisory Group. The AIIA are aiding Home Affairs in their design of the pilot scheme which will run for 1 year from July 1 and if successful will become part of the skilled migration program to Australia under the TSS program.

AIIA attended a Senate Hearing on the Future of Work and Workers on Monday 4 June
Our key asks include:
- Central to an appropriate Government response is the urgent need for a bi-partisan, economy-wide, Future Workforce Development Strategy to:
- Establish a needs/gap analysis, informing the government response;
- Identify new jobs and roles that are emerging as technological developments penetrate deeper into economies and labour markets;
- Identify new skills requirements for these jobs including the transition from existing silo-based skills to future workers who are agile, flexible and creative problem solvers;
- Facilitate digital literacy and digital inclusion;
- Address education and training gaps.
- Underpinning this, AIIA strongly recommends establishing a high-level Future Workforce Action Group to ensure sound policies will be turned into robust programs with appropriate regulatory oversight. As a starting point this Action Group must include employee groups like unions, business, education sector and government.

The AIIA jointly signed a letter on EU Data Flows with the Information Technology Industry Council and other global organisations in response to legislative changes in Europe which will have global impact
The AIIA have signed a multi-association letter on EU Data Flows. This letter is in response to legislative changes taking place across Europe which gives European’s access and control over the usage of their personal online data. These changes will affect the free flow of information and data with Europe which the AIIA is concerned with.

The AIIA and Environment SIG will send a letter to the Australian Packaging Covenant (APCO) opposing changes to newly announced fee structure which will impact all APCO members
The AIIA have signed a letter which will be sent to the Australian Packaging Covenant (APCO) opposing changes that APCO are proposing to bring in through a recent review of their pricing structure. Changes to the language, and therefore, the fee structure will mean that members will now pay an annual fee based on “total annual turnover” of their organisations, rather than what was in place previously of “total packaging, consumer packaging and private label turnover” this change in language, will result in large increases to the annual membership fees for members.

The APSC and DTA have published their Digital Learning Standards Review. The AIIA are seeking comments.
The APSC and DTA have published their draft Digital Learning Design Standards. The standards are intended to inform the development of training programs to build the required capabilities in the APS.
