Assistance and Access Bill 2018 (The Encryption Legislation)

On 30 November 2018, the shadow Attorney General wrote to the Attorney General stating that negotiations over the proposed Bill in the PJCIS have broken down.

Labor are proposing an ‘interim bill’. The PJCIS is due to hold its final hearing on the proposed Bill on 4 Dec 2018.

Meeting with Dr Karen Phelps and Hon. Karen Andrews, MPs Office

On 28 November 2018, the GM of Policy and Advocacy, Kishwar Rahman and an AIIA member, met with senior advisors from Dr Phelps and Minister Andrews office to discuss the proposed R&DTI changes.

Smart Cities call for proposals by Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

The DFAT has released a request for proposal for the ASEAN-Australia Smart Cities Accelerator (ASCA) is an AUD5 million pilot of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (DFAT) innovation Xchange that aims to support and scale high-growth potential enterprises focussed on smart urbanisation solutions in ODA eligible cities across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)
