In parallel the Digital transformation of healthcare continues to gain momentum. In Western Australia (WA) alone, health care supported by video conferencing or Telehealth increased by over 1,000% in Speech Pathology, 500% in Diabetes and 7,000% in Physiotherapy in 2019-20 as compared to 2018-19.
WA Health presents this influential workshop to celebrate and share the success of initiatives which have been expedited as a response to COVID-19, seek industry input to the annual review of the WA Health 2020-2030 Digital Strategy Roadmap, and learn from industry experts on how best to achieve success against priorities.
The workshop will provide a chance to recognise the importance of the industry voice as part of the annual review of the roadmap. Consultation with industry and the community will occur over the coming months. The workshop will be a conversation to share where we are now and discuss how industry can support priorities that will serve consumers, carers, clinicians and the healthcare workforce for decades to come.
Topics include:
- The WA Health Digital Strategy 2020-2030 journey: October 2019 to January 2021.
- Learnings and impacts of COVID-19: what are the priorities?
- Hearing from Industry Experts: question and comments session to test and confirm. Priorities for industry and how industry can support the system’s priorities.
- Communication feedback loops: Staying connected with Industry.
The presentations will be followed by a facilitated panel discussion with the speakers joined by:
Stephen Kalyniuk – Director ICT Strategy and Governance
Rowan Ellis – Rowan Ellis is an Anaesthetic Trainee who has worked at St John Of God Midland through 2020 and will be starting at Fiona Stanley Hospital in 2021. He has a passion for digital health, usability and clinical service improvement. Rowan is currently pursuing this through his role as Health Support Services Board Member, and as a Clinical Reference Lead for the Australian Digital Health Agency.
Judith Stewart
Executive Director Strategy, Policy and Planning Western Australian Department of Health.
Judith is a healthcare specialist with over 18 years’ experience in a range of public and private sector roles in healthcare the UK and Australia. Judith has extensive experience of working in the NHS in the UK, including in advisory roles, operational roles and leading the strategic planning and delivery of complex Projects and Programs. Judith spent several years working in and with the UK National Program for IT and vendor-side leading EMR implementation and the deployment of electronic booking and referral systems. Judith’s current focus areas include working with the health system to mobilise the Electronic Medical Record Program and progress initial planning. The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) solution is outlined as a key priority in the WA Health Digital Strategy 2020-2030, the Sustainable Health Review and the WA Recovery Plan.
Paul Forden
Chief Executive, South Metro Health Service
Paul is a Certified Accountant who joined the health sector over 22 years ago. He started out as a Director of Finance before becoming a Chief Operating Officer then 17 years ago a Chief Executive.
Paul has been Chief Executive of a number of UK Teaching hospitals and large hospitals. He also spent 3 years in the private sector as Managing Director for Health for a number of non-hospital European health businesses.
Paul came to Perth almost 3years ago as Executive Director of Fiona Stanley & Fremantle Hospital Group. In December 2017 he was made Chief Executive of the South Metro Health Service.
Paul has a passion for improving clinical quality and creating engaged organisations.
In his spare time Paul enjoys the fantastic outdoor facilities Perth has to offer and still tries to participate in a number of sports. He also enjoys travel.
Stephen has 30 plus years’ experience with healthcare ICT across Australia and internationally, in both public and private sectors. His extensive experience includes ICT pre-sales, sales, product management, planning and delivery of large-scale projects and programs. Stephen’s current areas of focus include the WA Health ICT Governance Framework and the Digital Strategy 2020-2030.
