Ministerial update by The Hon. Minister Victor Dominello MP

Victor is a senior Minister in the New South Wales State Government and has held various portfolios over the last decade including Aboriginal Affairs, Innovation and Finance.

He was appointed the inaugural Minister for Customer Service following the 2019 election. The first of its kind in the country, this ministry aims to put the customer and citizen first in the design of all government services.

Victor firmly believes that the use of real-time data, digital innovation and technology are integral to the delivery of modern public services.

We are delighted to welcome the Hon Victor Dominello, MP to provide the AIIA’s NSW Government’s Ministerial Update for his reflections on what has been unprecedented times and his vision of what lies ahead. Never before has an aspiration become so integral to the times’ we live in. 2020 has been profound in the way every life has changed within NSW and beyond due to the Covid-19 pandemic. NSW has adapted better than many other jurisdictions, but the economic impact has been devastating and the ICT Industry has not been immune. In line with the speed of action the Minister for Customer Service is renowned for, The Sovereign Procurement Taskforce was setup to address the capability of stimulating growth within the industry.

The Minister for Customer Service has led the way in digital transformation to ensure as many government interactions as possible can be digitised thereby providing the foundations for the ‘tell us only once’ approach. An advocate of data-based approaches to improve citizen services, Minister Dominello has overseen the creation of the Digital Analytics Centre and forged the pathway for the digital license. Hear from the Minister on how putting Customer Service at the heart of Government will lead the state safely and securely out of Covid-19 to create a vibrant economic and social environment for the future embracing a digital world where no-one is left behind.
