Corporates, SMEs and startups are all vital parts of Australia’s innovation ecosystem. In Australia, different types of innovators – corporate, SMEs and startups – have lived alongside each other, occasionally supporting or benefitting from each other, and slowly driving technological changes through our business community and society more broadly.
We know that more successful startup ecosystems rely on much closer engagement between corporates, SMEs and startups. In this talk LaunchVic CEO Kate Cornick will explore how, post pandemic, corporate Australia, SMEs and our startup ecosystem can work more effectively to drive outcomes that will support our economic recovery.
Kate is the CEO of LaunchVic, the Victorian Government’s startup agency and has considerable experience in technological innovation across start-ups, academia, corporates and government.
Prior to her current role, Kate led the development of a human resources technology start-up through a listing on the ASX. She held the position of Senior Telecommunications Adviser and Deputy Chief of Staff the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy and has also worked as a General Manager at NBN Co. An experienced non-executive director, Kate is currently a member of Charles Sturt University Council and a Director of the auDA.
Kate Cornick undertook her PhD in optical telecommunications at the University of Melbourne.
